Enjoying our neighbourhood series? Practically every week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of Tokyo’s lesser known areas, celebrating each ‘hood’s best bits. We’re always looking for your suggestions, both for specific spots and areas you’d like to see featured in the future. Once again, if you live, work, or just spend time in the area in question, let us know what’s great about it, and if you feel like your area is being unfairly ignored, don’t hesitate to drop us a line. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!
Next week’s featured area will be Otsuka, a well-preserved residential neighbourhood on the Yamanote line located on the border of Bunkyo and Toshima wards. The area around JR Otsuka Station, originally a part of Sugamo Village, is home to plenty of long-standing eateries and pubs, some of them tracing their histories all the way back to prewar times, while further south one finds the historical Gokoku-ji and its associated cemeteries. If you have an Otsuka-related tip, please use the form below and let us in on your secret!
